Honorary professorship for long-standing lecturer Dr Moritz von Witzleben

Career
Dr Moritz von Witzleben was born in Falls Church, Virginia, USA, in 1968 and studied mineralogy at the University of Cologne from 1990 to 1995, including a study abroad semester in Lisbon. He received his doctorate in 1998 with his thesis "Status and development potential of technical ceramics in Germany" at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn at the Mineralogical Institute and founded his company INMATEC in the same year. The father of two daughters has also been a lecturer at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg since 2017.

Entrepreneurship
During his doctorate, the mineralogist founded the company INMATEC Technologies GmbH in Rheinbach in 1998. The aim of the company to this day is the production and sale of so-called ceramic feedstocks, a plastic highly filled with ceramic powder. The feedstock is used in the new ceramic shaping processes of injection moulding, extrusion and additive manufacturing. The company is still involved in many development projects, both in industry and at universities, universities and research institutions such as the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the Helmholtz Association.
Honorary activities
In order to promote communication between science and industry and support young people in their careers, von Witzleben fulfils various honorary roles in scientific associations, for example since 2010 as a board member and since 2015 as a member of the presidium (treasurer) of the German Ceramic Society (DKG) or since 2012 as a board member of the European Ceramic Society (ECERS) and as its president from 2017 to 2019.
